Groveland’s ElEse Tomlin Center Library Mural

At the tail end of 2024, The City of Groveland’s Economic Development and CRA Manager Brooke Worthington approached me about creating a mural inside their newly-constructed family community center.

This new space, the Elese Tomlin Empowerment Center, houses Anointed Community Services and offers resources and support to both children and parents in Groveland.

When I found out the space I would be painting in would become the children’s library within the center, I immediately got to designing a bright, colorful, and child-friendly scene with lots of character and references to reading.

In January 2025, I began painting with only three weeks remaining before the ribbon-cutting opening ceremony for the center.  In total, I spent around ~30-35 hours working on the two-part mural. Once the library shelves were installed, the Anointed Community Services team and I were incredibly pleased with the final product and knew it would cultivate a welcoming and fun environment for all the children at the center.

The Elese Tomlin Empowerment Center officially opened its doors on January 17, 2025 in Groveland, Florida. I am incredibly proud to have been involved in this project and look forward to seeing how much good this center will bring to its community!
